Ilkley Pre-School Playgroup is located right in the middle of Ilkley town, so we have wonderful places to visit right on our doorstep.
Throughout the term we regularly go “out and about”. Most trips are planned in advance, although some are also spontaneous, especially if the sun is shining!
We’re located right on the edge of the moors and recent trips have included feeding the ducks at the Tarn, singing to the elderly residents at a care home, catching the train to Burley-in-Wharfedale, walking around Ilkley town for the Children’s Book Trail and even stopping for a drink and a biscuit at Christ Church Café!
The beauty of the location of our pre-school is we can visit these wonderful places without exhausting little legs. You may have seen us wearing our high visibility jackets in Ilkley – we’re easy to spot!
It’s nice for the children to explore their surroundings and get to know the local community.
You will be informed when these mornings are, and parents are welcome to come too. We do stipulate a certain child/adult ratio – one adult looks after two children (one for each hand!). These trips out are enjoyed by children, parents and staff as well, and we are regularly stopped by the Ilkley community for a chat, which is always nice.
Our children are an asset to our pre-school and we are very proud of them.
We have been a long standing entry in the annual May Day Ilkley Carnival.
The children and parents all help to create the costumes and props throughout the upcoming weeks and everyone really enjoys participating in the parade and waving to the large crowds that line the route. In 2015 we were lucky enough to be one of the beneficiaries of the carnival proceeds which paid for outdoor resources and the children’s annual end of term trip to Knell Bank!
